Scriptwriting Service

Here’s the process

Here are the steps to consider, if you need a new corporate video and you want the best possible results.

1. Script

Perhaps you have already created a clear, concise, final script, ready for video production?

It’s very easy to then deduce what cost the Voiceover part will be, since it is based on a rate-per-minute (rate per number of words spoken in a minute). Yet very few of my clients start off with an ideal script.

That’s natural. Writing a script is hard! Clarifying your idea can be hard!

Here’s how my Scriptwriting service can help

As I’ve said, writing a script is hard! Clarifying your idea is hard! Luckily, as a highly experienced Copywriter, I can solve all this for you, to make your whole project easier and more effective.

Consider these two scenarios:

Perhaps you’ll find that the script you’ve created is too wordy or long.
Or, perhaps at this stage, you only have some idea of what you wish to achieve with a Video Production.

In either case, I can help to create or transform your video script into a concise, punchy (and therefore more effective) Video production. Professional scriptwriting helps you to achieve the true result you need, in the most efficient fashion.

My Scriptwriting service will save you money, at the same time

A shorter, more concise script requires less Voiceover cost (a good saving) and less Video editing and production time (another good saving). So you’ll not only get a more powerful video production, you’ll keep the overall cost down. Spending money on Scriptwriting means better savings and a better final result.

Free initial consultation and quote, before you commit

If you’re not sure about using my Scriptwriting service, don’t worry. You can ask for a free, one-hour consultation with me in any case, which is obligation-free. During this meeting, you and I can examine what is required for your project and I can then provide you with a clear quote on Scriptwriting, before you choose to use that service.

Scriptwriting Rate

As I’ve mentioned, you will always receive a free one-hour consultation in person or by phone, where I will intelligently gather a clear understanding of what you wish to achieve, as well as any notes or source material required. I’ll then provide you with an accurate quote for Scriptwriting.

ACTUAL SCRIPTWRITING COST if you go ahead (Beyond the free initial consultation):

$110 per hour.

Any Scriptwriting hours billed are for transforming the gathered ideas and notes into an actual script, ready for making a Video Production. Please look at the following, typical costs for booking our Scriptwriting service:

$220 (2 hours) (Minimum Scriptwriting Fee)

Here’s what you would expect for this fee: This would typically cover the work required to edit and improve your existing script so that you’ll get a more concise, punchy Video Production.

$330-$440 (3-4 hours)

This would typically cover the cost for me to turn your already concise notes and idea, into a script ready for video production.

$550 - $770 (5-7 hours) (10 minute production)

Here’s typically what you would expect for this fee: I will digest your copious notes, (following initial consultation) and transform your raw information into a concise, effective video production. The better your notes and the clearer your idea, the less hours it will take.

$1100 - $1320 (20 minute production)

Here’s what you would expect for this fee: As for a 10 minute production listed above. In addition, extra hours work, as required, to complete a longer script.

How long is a script? How long should it be?

Most Corporate Video productions are (and should be!) well under 10 minutes. Training videos tend to be the longest but it’s often better to make a series of shorter training videos than one very long video.

As a guide, a ten-minute Video will probably have around 1200 words.*

*1200 words is a reasonable guess, since in 10 minutes it is possible to say around 1200 words, based upon reading 120 words per minute.

Try reading the following passage, by stopwatch, to see what we mean:

War and Peace begins in the Russian city of St. Petersburg in 1805, as fear of Napoleon’s ongoing war making begins to set in. Most of the characters are introduced at a party, including Pierre Bezukhov, Andrey Bolkonsky, and the Kuragin and Rostov families. Much of the novel focuses on the interactions between the Bezukhovs, Bolkonskys, and the Rostovs.

After their introduction, Andrey Bolkonsky and Nikolay Rostov go to the Austrian front under General Kutuzov, a fictional representation of Mikhail Kutuzov, to engage with Napoleon’s troops. Andrey is then injured at the Battle of Austerlitz and presumed dead, until he arrives home to his wife, Lise, who dies during childbirth soon after.

Pierre, meanwhile, has married the lovely Helene Kuragina.

It probably took you around 60 seconds to read that.

Of course it’s possible to say the above passage in under 50 seconds. However it is unlikely that you would want your corporate video to sound so rushed, which is why 120 words per minute is a reasonable guide.

In a nutshell, if your corporate video script is 1200 words long, then the video and audio will go for around 10 minutes.
